Identification of items on the Word formatting toolbar

NOTE: To find out what a particular button does, place the mouse pointer on the button, but do not click the mouse button. After a few seconds, the name of the button will pop up.
There are three boxes and 13 buttons on the Word 7.0 for Windows 95 Formatting toolbar:

DOCUMENT STYLE BOX: Usually the box at the far left of the toolbar. 'Normal' is the standard (default) style of all new Word documents. Various heading and paragraphs styles can be used.

FONT BOX: Usually the second box from the left on the toolbar. The font name appears in the box. A new font can be selected from the drop-down list box.

FONT SIZE BOX: The box immediately to the right of the 'Font' box on the toolbar. Select the desired size from the drop-down list box.

FONT STYLE BUTTONS: Three buttons, next to each other, immediately to the right of the 'Font Size' box on the toolbar. Choose the 'Bold' button, the 'Italic' button, or the 'Underline' button to bold, italicize, or underline selected text, respectively.

HIGHLIGHT BUTTON: Located in the same row with the 'Font Style' buttons. Choose the 'Highlight' button to highlight selected text with the selected color.

ALIGNMENT BUTTONS: Four buttons, next to each other, immediately to the right of the 'Font Style' buttons. Choose the 'Align Left', 'Center', 'Align Right', or 'Justify' button to align the selected text to the left, the center, the right, or fully justify the text, respectively.

LISTS BUTTONS: Four buttons located next to each other, immediately to the right of the 'Alignment' buttons. Choose the 'Numbering' button to create a numbered list, and choose the 'Bullets' button to create a bulleted list. Choose the 'Decrease Indent' button to move the indent to the left. Choose the 'Increase Indent' button to move the indent to the right.

BORDERS BUTTON: The borders button is located on the far right of the toolbar, immediately to the right of the 'Lists' buttons. Choose the 'Borders' button to display or hide the 'Borders' toolbar (depending on whether or not the 'Borders' toolbar is already displayed or hidden). The 'Borders' toolbar appears immediately above the document (immediately below 'Tip of the Day' and immediately above the 'Ruler', if these two are displayed).
